VILLABELLA
Vineyards from the Heart of Bardolino overlooking Lake Garda
By Shaun Tordoff
It is without saying that I am writing about another new partnership between Tordoffs & Vigneti Villabella. A relatively new company of a tender 50 years, this may not seem a long time but what has been achieved is outstanding.
Vigneti Villabella is a wine growing estate that was founded 50 years ago by Walter Delibori and Giorgio Cristoforetti. They are situated in Calmasino in the Provence of Verona in the heart of Bardolino Classico Zone in the hills on morainic hillsides overlooking Lake Garda. Villabella and its team that love nothing more than to express the full potential of both the area and the wines that they produce. Villabella are creating genuine and ethical wines whilst maintaining the balance between man and nature.
Sometimes when we visit places of beauty the landscape may impress, whilst the wines and gastronomy leave little impression. Villabella & Villa Cordevigio will fill your soul with lazy summer visions of hazy days, stunning views, ancient architecture and the most simplistic flavoursome foods whilst feasting on the delights that the winemakers produce from these two estates.
Villabella produces D.O.C and D.O.G.G classifications. The heart of Villabella is the Villa Cordevigio dating back to the 18th century. Domaine at Cavaion Veronese which is a natural oasis and organically farmed.
Tordoffs aim over the next couple of years is to introduce our loyal clients and readers to some rare treats that are produced by Villabella such as the 2009 Oseleta both in 75cl and Magnum, the Fracastoro Amarone Della Valpolicella Reserva both extremely small exclusive productions with tiny allocations, do not miss out. These wines are complex and full of character that will develop as the wine ages.
